Rowayton Real Estate & Lifestyle in Full Bloom!

This year the April showers have certainly brought more than flowers to Rowayton, CT!

Aside from Rowaytons’ natural beauty, the social calendar for all its residents is now in full bloom – as is the local real estate market.  Since I’ve last written, the Rowayton Civic Association (RCA) has been busy organizing and hosting its annual Comedy Night for the adults and entertaining the kids at The Underground, however, nowhere was town spirit and participation better exemplified than at the annual Memorial Day parade.

On May 9th over 350 partygoers packed potluck dinners and dined with their friends at candle-lit tables on the field in front of the Rowayton Library.  The chuckles during dinner quickly turned to non-stop laughter when the comedians took the stage.  Once again, Rowayton was lucky to have 3 of the finest comedians from “The Daily Show” entertain & jeer the audience. Although the comedians were funny, some might argue that the real comedy began after the microphone went off and the dancing began.  No matter what, it was once again a spectacular night for all!

Another uniquely Rowayton experience is The Underground, more commonly referred to as the “UG” by its patrons.  The UG is also an RCA sponsored event hosted monthly as a safe socializing “hangout” for the 6th, 7th & 8th graders in town.  Kids can listen to music; enjoy pizza, play board games, cards, pool, foosball, and air hockey… Weather permitting; there are also outdoor activities available such as soccer, football, flashlight tag, frisbee, and “manhunt”.

Although Comedy Night and the UG give reasons to smile, nothing makes a homeowner happier than a vibrant real estate market.  Not unique to Rowayton, the long, slow economic downturn of the last year has caused many of us to writher and wreathe when thinking about our investments.  Well, cast aside all the despair because this Spring things have really picked up in Rowayton!

In the last couple of weeks alone more properties have gone under contract than in the last 6 months!  Furthermore, there have been a number of closing as well as a number of properties that have recently gone under binder.  Clearly I am no economist, however, I just want to point out that no matter what makes you laugh and smile there certainly seems to be enough going on in Rowayton to make you happy.

Although this is all good news, nobody can argue that this perfect American experience would be possible without the heroic efforts of our past and present service men and women.  We owe them all a great debt of gratitude and once again Rowayton showed it.  Rowayton Avenue was lined deep with patriotic citizens, while  the local school marching bands, town commissioners, volunteer firefighters, Little Leaguers, Scouts and all the other enthusiastic marchers (even four-footed ones!) celebrated our country & community! The parade ended at Veteran’s Cannon to honor those who died in their service to our country.  Afterwards, hot dogs and soda were sold by our local firefighters and their families, the Rowayton Arts Center hosted its annual art show, and one of the local church’s sold it’s famous strawberry shortcake at Pinckney Park.

With Rowayton in full bloom, come on down & jump right in…. the water is certainly getting warmer!
