For well over the last year, we’ve all been inundated with data on the economy.  For me, a day hasn’t gone by when I haven’t had the “doom and gloom conversation” with a friend, or read a story about some dismal situation.  The reality is that bad things occur in good economies, more occur in fledgling economies and fledgling economies rise again.

I pose the questions to you that I have been asking a lot of myself lately.  “Do I really understand what I am hearing” & “Do they really know what they are talking about”? Simple questions, but I’ve found that many people I speak with don’t understand the current economic and real estate landscape.  Through no fault of our own, most people are only experts in one area, while we all try to make sense of everything.  We all know that things are not like they used to be, but do we understand the data we are hearing?

Data and information are two different things.  Information is something that a professional, an expert can give you.  Information gives form and shape to data. Information uses data and makes it palatable for us to understand.  Data needs deciphering, while information informs, educates and speaks to us.
